new Zealand Carbon black

Carbon black is an extremely fine black powder produced by the incomplete combustion or thermal decomposition of hydrocarbon compounds (such as petroleum, natural gas, or coal tar), with its main component being elemental carbon. It is one of the earliest developed and still widely produced nanomaterials in the world, characterized by small particle size, large specific surface area, and complex structure.

Product Description

Carbon black is an extremely fine black powder produced by the incomplete combustion or thermal cracking of hydrocarbon compounds (such as petroleum, natural gas, or coal tar), with its main component being elemental carbon. It is one of the earliest developed and still widely produced nanomaterials in the world, characterized by small particle size, large specific surface area, and complex structure.

Carbon black has a wide range of applications in various fields:

1. Rubber Industry: Carbon black is an important reinforcing filler in the rubber industry, significantly improving the strength, wear resistance, and aging resistance of rubber products. About 94% of carbon black is used in the rubber industry, with around 60% used in tire manufacturing. By optimizing the type and addition ratio of carbon black, the physical and mechanical properties of rubber products can be adjusted.

2. Plastics Industry: As a coloring agent and ultraviolet stabilizer, carbon black can give plastic products a good black appearance and protect plastics from degradation caused by ultraviolet radiation.

3. Inks and Coatings: Carbon black is used as a pigment in printing inks and various coatings, providing deep black tones and enhancing the flow and stability of the inks.

4. Brake Pads: Carbon black plays a crucial role in the manufacturing of automotive brake pads. Its specific functions are as follows:

• Enhanced Friction Performance: Carbon black increases the friction coefficient between the brake pad and the brake disc, thereby enhancing braking efficiency and braking force.

• Wear Resistance: Due to the excellent wear resistance and abrasion resistance of carbon black, it can effectively extend the service life of brake pads.

• Thermal Stability: Under high-temperature braking conditions, carbon black helps absorb and disperse heat, preventing thermal fade caused by overheating of the brake pads.

• Structural Reinforcement: Carbon black acts as a structural framework in brake pad composites, increasing the overall strength and toughness of the material.

In summary, the application of carbon black in brake pads is one of the key factors in ensuring the safe operation of vehicles and is crucial for enhancing the overall performance and reliability of the braking system.
