Message InquiryProduct Description
Calcined petroleum coke is a solid carbonaceous byproduct refined from heavy residual oil (such as residue oil, vacuum residue, etc.) through a delayed coking process. It is an amorphous carbon, usually appearing as black or dark gray particles or lumps, with high carbon purity, low volatile matter, and specific physicochemical properties.
The applications of petroleum coke are very extensive, mainly including:
1. Carbon and graphite products: High-quality low-sulfur petroleum coke can be used to produce graphite electrodes, prebaked anodes, and other high-end carbon products, which serve as conductive and heating materials in the electrolytic aluminum industry and electric arc steelmaking.
2. Metallurgical and chemical industries: Petroleum coke can be used as a reducing agent in the smelting industry, as a carbon additive, and as a special catalyst carrier in some chemical processes.
3. Brake pad manufacturing: In the brake pad manufacturing industry, calcined petroleum coke is used as an important raw material for friction materials after calcination treatment, with functions including:
• Enhanced friction performance: Calcined petroleum coke has a high porosity and suitable friction coefficient, which helps improve the friction performance of brake pads, making braking more responsive and effective.
• Increased thermal stability: Petroleum coke can withstand high temperatures, helping to reduce the decline in braking efficiency due to thermal fade during braking.
• Improved wear resistance: The hardness and wear resistance of petroleum coke positively affect the wear rate of brake pads, extending their service life.
• Noise reduction: A suitable proportion of petroleum coke can reduce noise to some extent during braking.
4. Fuel applications: High-sulfur or lower quality petroleum coke can be used as fuel in power plants or other places that require a heat source.
Therefore, in the brake pad industry, specially treated petroleum coke as an additive or base material can not only enhance the braking effect and safety of brake pads but also optimize their performance over long-term use.
