Message InquiryProduct Description
Flake graphite is a type of natural crystalline graphite with a hexagonal layered crystal structure, appearing in a flaky form, hence the name flake graphite. Flake graphite has excellent physicochemical properties, such as high electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, lubricity, good thermal stability, and resistance to acid and alkali corrosion. Additionally, the interlayer bonding force is relatively weak, making it easy to peel and modify.
Application fields:
1. Metallurgical industry: Flake graphite is widely used in refractory materials, such as magnesia-carbon bricks and crucibles, due to its high-temperature resistance, which can enhance the high-temperature performance and thermal shock resistance of refractory materials.
2. Battery materials: Flake graphite is an important component of the anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, such as the graphite anode materials used in lithium-ion batteries.
3. Friction materials: In the manufacturing of brake pads, flake graphite serves multiple roles as a functional filler and reinforcement.
• Friction performance: The addition of flake graphite can adjust the friction coefficient of the brake pads, ensuring stable friction force under various working conditions and improving braking efficiency.
• Thermal stability: Graphite has good thermal conductivity and high-temperature resistance, effectively absorbing and dissipating heat generated during braking, reducing performance degradation of the brake pads due to overheating, known as thermal fade.
• Mechanical properties: The incorporation of flake graphite can enhance the mechanical strength and wear resistance of the brake pads, extending their service life.
• Noise reduction and comfort: Proper addition of flake graphite helps reduce noise and vibration during the braking process, improving driving comfort.
4. Other applications: Flake graphite is also processed into products such as graphite slurry and expanded graphite, widely used in lubricants, release agents, conductive coatings, and flexible graphite seals.
Specific role in brake pads:
In the formulation of brake pads, the selection and proportion of flake graphite have a direct impact on the friction performance, heat resistance, and wear resistance of the brake pads. High-quality flake graphite can optimize the friction coefficient curve of the brake pads, ensuring good braking performance under emergency braking and long-term use conditions. Additionally, its excellent thermal conductivity helps quickly dissipate heat generated during braking, avoiding the risk of brake failure due to overheating. Furthermore, flake graphite can improve the internal structure of the brake pads, enhancing their overall mechanical properties and service life.
