Magnetite, with the chemical formula Fe3O4, is an important iron ore mineral that belongs to the isometric crystal system. Its crystal forms are commonly octahedral and dodecahedral, but it often appears in nature as granular or massive aggregates. Named for its strong magnetism, magnetite is colored from iron black to dark blue, with a black streak, exhibiting a submetallic luster, is opaque, has no cleavage, and has a rough fracture. Its hardness is approximately 5.5 to 6.5, and it has a relatively high density ranging from 5.16 to 5.18 g/cm³.

Hematite is an important iron ore with the chemical formula Fe2O3. It is dark red or black-red in color, belongs to the trigonal crystal system, has a hardness of 5.5-6.5, and a specific gravity of about 5.26 g/cm³. It has excellent fire resistance and weather resistance, making it one of the most significant types of iron ore in nature.
